Work on luxury retirement homes on Bishops Avenue

Work will begin on a luxury home for the over-65s in the woods on Hampstead Street known as “Billionaires’ Row”.

Wates Construction has signed an agreement with retirement company Riverstone to build The Bishops Avenue, a 22,084 m2 luxury home at 56, The Bishop’s Avenue.

The final deal plans for 93 apartments with a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments were approved by the Barnet Council in March.

The residence will include a hair and nail salon, spa with sauna and steam baths, swimming pool and vitality pool, library, club room, restaurant and bar, cinema, fitness studio and ballroom.

If necessary, care workers will be present to support the residents.

Environmental features include a pond and regenerated forest, bio-solar roof panels and electric vehicle charging points for each parking space.

The access and basement work is now scheduled to start later this month, with the main work to start in November 2023 for 86 weeks.

The project is focused on an all-electric energy strategy aimed at a net zero carbon plan.

Wates said “groundbreaking modern construction methods” will be deployed to develop the site, including the use of prefabricated facade systems, bathroom pods, utility modules and custom joinery.
