Why Everyone Is Obsessed With OXO’s Kitchen Tools and Gadgets

I don’t know if you’re a well-adjusted adult with normal hobbies, or someone like me with strong attachments to inanimate objects that came into my life and changed it forever. Oh, are you the last? Cool – so let me introduce you to my husband, Spinner, or as I refer to him in less open circles, the OXO Salad Spinner of my dreams.

Spinner and I met at a friend’s house – it was ask. I was in charge of making the salad, and as soon as I pressed its retractable button with a rubber stopper, I knew things were going to be… different. (That big chunk of hand-ripped romaine lettuce was the only thing in the kitchen that was completely dry—if you know what I mean.) It really can handle anything, even tender herbs, because nobody likes a soggy salad. They, however, like a tossed and perfectly dressed one. Plus, the OXO Salad Spinner cleans really well (and quickly) in the dishwasher, and it even comes in glass, for formal occasions or black tie.

While I could be poetic about OXO’s magical product for hours, it’s not the only heaven-sent item in the brand’s bevy of products, which range from silicone bibs and grape cutters to ingenious vegetable and cherry peelers. I live in a tiny apartment with zero extra storage space, and the thought of single-use gadgets sticking out of already-full drawers makes my skin crawl. But the beauty of my favorite – and soon your favorite – home accessories brand OXO is that their team of geniuses has fixed many design flaws in traditional and everyday products to make your life easier – whether you live on a sprawling ranch with a huge kitchen or have a closet and a kitchen IKEA trolley to store all your cooking tools.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from (legally) snooping around the kitchens of the upscale Manhattanites I occasionally bump into, it’s that they love OXO gadgets. This is the type of person who doesn’t mind the price of a full set of Le Creuset cookware or Yoshihiro knives. If Esther Povitsky is the Jane Goodall of Hot Girls, I’m Harriet, the spy for Tribeca’s sophisticated working moms, and I’m here to tell you that next to GOOPGLOW and Jack’s Stir Brew Coffee, there’s an eight-eighth OXO coffee shop. to eight cups creator. I’ve also tagged at least three kitchens stocked with the brand’s ergonomic can opener, and their garlic press is the only one that’s (actually) better than just using a knife. The best thing about OXO, though, is that it’s affordable – and I guarantee their products will last longer and outperform most competitors. Aside from the almighty salad spinner, here are some of the brand’s top-rated products that you’ll soon be whispering sweet words to.

OXO Good Grips Rotary Peeler

If you thought all vegetable peelers were created equal, think again. The OXO Rotary Peeler has an average rating of 4.8 stars from nearly 40,000 reviews on Amazon, and thousands of satisfied customers praise the Gold Peeler for coming into their lives. “This one from OXO is like finding a long lost friend!” a reviewer writes. “It works! It peels off in perfect long strips!” Aren’t we all looking for a product that peels off a pound of sweet potato like butter? The answer is yes – and this dual-blade model is also made from Japanese stainless steel, has a built-in potato eye, and has a rubber grip. non-slip for comfort and ease of use.

OXO Good Grips Soft Handle Can Opener

It’s very satisfying to find a group of people who understand and accept you — in this case, the Amazon proofreader magic who isn’t afraid to scream their love for the OXO can opener from the rooftops. “My faithful old friend, OXO Good Grips, has bitten the dust after nearly 15 years,” she writes. “[So] we bought a different can opener. Trash. We bought another. complete garbage. I went to Amazon, praying they could replace my old OXO, and there it was: my new Bae.” Extra soft handles and a giant button make it easy to open cans in two big twists – the only caveat is it’s dishwasher safe.

OXO Good Grips Soft Handle Garlic Press

Nearly 30,000 users have reviewed the idealized version of OXO’s garlic press, and due to its spacious chamber for crushing multiple cloves at once, it requires almost no force to pulverize garlic and has earned an average rating of 4.7 stars. In one go, you can also turn the press inside out over the garbage, and it releases the flattened skins every time. “I have crushed so much garlic since my new garlic press arrived,” writes one reviewer. “I don’t think I’ll see vampires again anytime soon.” Phew – this was actually his second satisfied purchase after his first press “became overloaded with an abundance of vampires that swarmed somewhere around the 2016 election.” Glad to hear she’s safe and happy.

OXO Brew eight-cup coffee maker

OK, so people can get VERY specific about their morning drink. With how many variables there are to getting a really good cup of coffee (e.g. temperature, grind type, ease of use), we can all agree with this five-star reviewer, who writes, “Everything I want is a coffee machine that makes a great cup of coffee, [and] OXO delivers.” Its rainmaker shower evenly distributes water over the floor and has a super convenient cleaning mode – not to mention it’s only 13 inches tall, so it fits under cabinets and in compact spaces. The consensus of most reviewers is that it outperforms other top-tier machines in ease of use and has the ability to make equally tasty single-serving servings as well as an entire eight-cup pitcher. “Better than Bonavita [and] cheaper than Breville”, writes a satisfied customer.

OXO Good Grips POP Container

Another one of my personal favorites — one that makes me feel like an adult bougie, flawless marble countertop, owner of Dyson (a girl can dream) — is the brand’s line of POP containers. They’re tough, clear, stackable, and Kardashian-approved. They will make your life seemingly more organized and may even save your pantry from a massive ant infestation. “EVERYTHING in them was untouched!” a reviewer with an ant problem writes. “The ants didn’t even go near the closet. It was like they couldn’t smell the sugar!” The magic is in the airtight silicone seal that activates when you push the button on the lid.

Let’s all join hands and pray to our Lord and savior, OXO Good Grips. A man.
