Thanksgiving is a state and federal holiday. 10 of 11 federal holidays in 2022, followed by Christmas.

Will the mail be delivered on Thanksgiving 2022? Will the mail work on Thanksgiving?

No mail will be delivered on Thanksgiving, nor will there be FedEx or UPS. The only services available will be FedEx Custom Critical, FedEx Same Day City, and UPS Express Critical.

Is the post office open on Thanksgiving 2022?

United States Postal Service offices will be closed, but self-service kiosks are still available for delivery in some locations.

Will supermarkets be open on Thanksgiving 2022?

Many supermarkets will be open with reduced hours. Shoppers should ultimately consult their local supermarket for specific information.

The following markets are open:

  • Acme (7am to 4pm in most places, but times may vary in some locations)
  • Foodtown (varies by store)
  • ShopRite (varies by store)
  • Stop & Shop (07:00 – 15:00; pharmacy will be closed)
  • Wegmans (07:00 – 16:00)
  • Whole Foods (varies by store)

Are restaurants open on Thanksgiving 2022?

It varies by institution. Some restaurants may be closed, while others are open and sell ready-made holiday meals for takeout.

Customers should consult specific restaurants for information.

Are malls open on Thanksgiving 2022?

Simon, one of the largest mall operators in the US, closed its malls, malls and properties on Thanksgiving in 2020 and 2021.

The following 13 Simon malls and malls in New Jersey are expected to close again this year:

  • Gloucester Premium Outlets: 100 Premium Outlet Dr., Blackwood
  • Jackson Premium Outlets: 537 Monmouth Rd., Jackson
  • Jersey Shore Premium Outlets: 1 Premium Outlet Blvd., Tinton Falls
  • Menlo Park Mall: 55 Parsonage Rd., Edison
  • Newport Center: 30 Mall Dr. West, Jersey City
  • Newport Crossing: 613 Washington Blvd., Jersey City
  • Newport Plaza: 125 18th St., Jersey City
  • Ocean County Mall: 1201 Hooper Ave., Toms River
  • Quaker Bridge Mall: 3320 Route 1 Unit 150, Lawrenceville
  • Rockaway Town Square: 301 Mount Hope Ave., Rockaway
  • The Mills at Jersey Gardens: 651 Kapkowski Rd., Elizabeth
  • Shops in Riverside: 390 Hackensack Ave., Hackensack

As of now, no other malls in New Jersey have announced their Thanksgiving plans.

Are the stock markets open on Thanksgiving?

No. Stock markets will be closed on Thanksgiving. The Nasdaq trading and bond markets will also be closed.

Are New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission locations open on Thanksgiving 2022?

All Motor Vehicle Commission offices will be closed. In addition, all New Jersey state offices and courts are closed for the holiday.

Online processing of some documents is available on the Motor Vehicle Commission website.

Are NJ Transit, PATH, and SEPTA operating on a regular schedule?

NJ Transit will add extra trains and buses in the early morning and afternoon to welcome passengers to and from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade in New York City. PATH will run on the Saturday schedule and SEPTA will run on the Sunday schedule.

For NJ Transit, passengers should use NJ Transit’s online trip planner to double-check their arrival and departure times.

When is the next federal holiday?

The next federal holiday is Christmas Day, Sunday, December 25.
