Taste Space’s Taahra Thai Charcoal Grill Bar is a new and modern restaurant Y bar located inside a small and narrow alley in Bangkok, Thailand. The project’s design concept draws inspiration from charcoal and charcoal aesthetics to create a sleek, contemporary interior defined by a mix of rough and smooth textures, handcrafted stone and charcoal tiles, warm tones of charcoal grays, and dramatic lighting. . The dark interior, accentuated by soft accent lighting, is further enhanced by luxurious touches of small details such as dark bronze and brass lamps. The space is infused with a sophisticated quality, exuding a serene environment for visitors to relax within, while projecting a distinguished façade.

Taste Space Unveils New Restaurant and Bar in Bangkok

As Taahra is located in a residential neighborhood in an old town area, the headquartered in bangkok designers they were met with the challenge of maintaining the restaurant’s privacy while ensuring that ample natural light shines through. As such, Taste Space incorporates frosted glass windows that optimize daylight exposure, maintain an exclusive ambience for patrons inside, and present a sophisticated façade to the street frontage. Despite the somewhat rundown and unassuming location of the restaurant and bar, the designers drew a unique feature for the restaurant by placing a black log at the entrance. In a wood and grill interpretation, this references the charcoal and charcoal imagery of the design concept. The prominent and elegant new façade has been painted a solid black, distinct from the multicolored buildings that surround Taahra.

dramatic lighting accentuates the dark interior

This bold look continues and is repeated throughout the interior of the restaurant. The furnishings and interior design have been carefully crafted by Taste Space to further evoke images of coal and charcoal, using smooth wood and concrete materials to enhance a warm and welcoming atmosphere. While the first floor is mostly inspired by charcoal, the second floor is inspired by charcoal. Upon entering the restaurant, patrons are greeted by a live grill bar where the chef can be seen cooking up the delicacies in a live presentation, illuminated by spotlights above. In a unique display, the terrazzo countertop is designed by Taste Space to emulate the distorted appearance of charcoal dust and flame. Designers further incorporate scattered floor tiles, arranging them in a mosaic-like pattern that resembles a coal stockpile.

Due to planning restrictions, the architects were unable to demolish the original existing staircase. Therefore, Taste Space conceals the former with a new minimalist winding staircase with soft recessed lighting serving as a connecting element between the bar and restaurant spaces.
