Cleveland – Sherwin-Williams’ 2023 color is Redend Point SW 9081, a soothing beige blush meant to broaden horizons.
“Redend Point is inspired by the idea of finding beauty beyond ourselves. It’s an encouraging color that invites empathy and connection in any setting,” said Sue Waden, director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams. “The color is a natural choice for those looking for a warm, cheerful neutral in every setting. From interior and exterior designs. Redend Point is a beautiful color, and I can’t wait to see how consumers play with it and design their spaces.”
To help spark consumers’ imaginations and inspire them to create warm and inviting spaces using Redend Point, Sherwin-Williams and Etsy, the global marketplace for unique and creative goods, have curated a selection of complementary home décor items as well as artwork and accessories from Etsy sellers.
Products include bedding, stone vases, hand-poured candles, modern wall art, hand-printed linen napkins, and more.
“Redend Point is an ideal choice for bringing a sense of serenity and nature into any setting,” said Etsy trend expert Dina Isom Johnson. “The unique, handcrafted items we curated on Etsy can compliment this gorgeous color in just about any room or even enable you to bring color outside of your four walls with accessories and gifts.”
Waden said Redend Point embodies the idea of a destination worth moving towards, igniting a spirit of discovery and inspiring deeper connections with others around the world.
The color also provides an essential reminder to stay curious and empathetic toward ourselves and our communities, according to the company. As neutrals continue to warm up, Wadden expects this blush beige to be a versatile shade that can be seen in residential and commercial spaces in the coming years.
The new color also provides a nourishing simplicity based on New Beginnings created by Sherwin Williams 2022 Color of the Year, Evergreen Fog.
“The subtle pink tones of Redend Point make it easy to incorporate into any space. It provides enveloping warmth that instantly makes you feel right at home.” “Build on its earthy character by utilizing gradation alongside natural-looking textiles and wood accents or create a desert oasis by layering terracotta shades and terracotta materials.”
The color is part of the Nexus palette in the Sherwin-Williams 2023 Colormix forecast, which celebrates restorative energy, well-being and kindness. Wadden recommends pairing the tone with neutral grounding such as Urbane Bronze SW 7048, Pure White SW 7005, Cool Beige SW 9086 and Foothills SW 7514, or tonal clay such as Hushed Auburn SW 9080, Toile Red SW 0006, Carnelian SW 7580 and Malted Milk SW 6057.
Led by Director of Color Marketing Sue Wadden, Sherwin-Williams’ global color and design team researches and identifies key trends affecting the way we interact with color. From these results, the team converts emerging topics into the annual Colormix forecast, which includes 40 colors and four palettes for 2023. The team selects the color of the year from the annual forecast.
The 2023 pick, Redend Point SW 9081, is Sherwin Williams’ thirteenth official color of the year.
