Text description provided by the architects. Located in one of the most beautiful addresses in the Serra Gaúcha, the project is located in an area surrounded by remarkable vegetation, unique rock formations and exuberant landscapes. The original plot, with rocky ground, uneven topography and pronounced slopes, made multiple accesses to the surrounding road network impossible, making the condominium plot activity the best option to utilize the area with minimal interference with the landscape.
The proposal presented attempts to explore these positive points. From the analysis of the environmental conditions – orientation to the sun, visuals, better use of the topography and access possibilities, we arrived at a layout that is easy to read, but which takes into account the different possibilities that each future home will be able to individually. to enjoy .
The plots – all of equal size, overlooking the Serra, are connected by a small access road carved in stone, which also forms the common area and delimits the area intended for the recreation of the condominium. Spatially, the road with the lots to the east and the terrace to the west forms a beautiful backdrop with the permanent conservation area to the north and the pristine rocky slope to the south.
It is in relation to this scenario that the architecture was proposed. Fence, pavement and buildings were designed in complete harmony with the characteristics of the place. The spaces created try to emphasize their potential through the use of local raw materials – stone and wood, as well as through the craftsmanship and traditional building techniques of the region.
The basalt stone walls – built entirely with rocks from the land itself, are the central constructive element of the project. The large vertical panels frame the built elements and together with wood, metal and concrete form a palette of colors and textures that are inseparable from the natural landscape of the place.
The program, of low complexity, is configured by a banquet hall – open kitchen, grill, fire pit, dining room and toilet; in addition to the condominium infrastructure areas. And it is in the details, developed exclusively for this project, that the solution becomes special.
A pattern of perforations has been specially designed for the metalworking, inspired by the stone grains, which form a playful and semi-transparent design for the closures of the buildings. For the pavement, a puzzle of different colors and roughness demarcates the boundary strip, sidewalks, zebra crossings and access to the inner road. The signage – in metal, the stone overlaps in a smooth counterpoint between the artisanal and the industrialized, discreetly showing the importance of each project element.
Likewise, the landscape consists of species usually found in the region, in a balanced mix of exotic and native specimens. The terrain, which is characterized by its largely rocky soil, appears as a protagonist in the composition of the landscape. The vegetation chosen tries to surround the stone outcrops and preserve the natural features of the place as a natural part of the landscape.
