Gabrielle Davis is making a name for herself in product design and development.

Davis was born and raised in High Point, North Carolina, in a furniture-making family. Her mother, India Miller, is the creative director of Hickory White and Lillian August, and her grandfather, the late James Stanton Jr., was the former director of design at Henredon-Heritage and founding director of Woodmark Originals. At the age of 14, Gabrielle began working in the furniture market. “I think this industry chose me as much as I chose it; as a third-generation legacy I grew up with everything revolving around the April and October markets,” Davis said.

After graduating from the Charleston Institute of the Arts with a bachelor’s degree in interior design, Davis returned to High Point to work with her mother at Hickory White and Lillian August. In the spring of 2018, Davis was assigned to work at Caracol as a showroom and boutique designer. While in this position, Davies designed and managed several large showroom renovations within Caracol’s 60,000 square feet of space. In addition, she assisted the marketing department with photography and collaboration, and was briefly involved in upholstery and merchandising.

Currently in an unspecified role for M2C Studio, a lighting hardware and drapery company, Davis collaborates with the company’s co-owning couple, Stewart and Lila Gans. “I really thrive in this position and the environment. Working with Stewart, I use analysis and structure to solve problems, and working with Lila, he encourages me to be very creative,” Davis said. Davis handles a wide range of responsibilities such as company website, product photography, customer interaction, order entry, social media content and technical drawings for Gans home renovations.

Davis said that she constantly tells stories or hears someone express their deep admiration for her mother and grandfather and said it makes her think, “Man, I hope I have that kind of influence on people.”
