Sunil Sethi, Chairman, Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and fashion designer Ashish N Soni inaugurated a series of fashion shows conceived and performed by Pearl Academy’s School of Fashion & Technology students. While Sunil applauded the students’ work for conforming to international standards, Ashish was fascinated by the thematic representation. Both also praised the teachers for guiding the students so well.
Another highlight of the fashion shows was the collaboration with Hansgrohe, a perfect example of the fusion of creativity with technology. The multifunctional shower AXOR Showerheaven 1200 x 300 was the eye-catcher, where the shower revealed the stylish outfits on the slope. This had never been done before on an Indian fashion disaster.
In addition to the fashion shows, panel discussions and workshops were organized on entrepreneurship and Metaverse. Digital art and exhibits showcased by School of Creative Practice were created in collaboration with Google Collab Research Center and Artificial Intelligence Diffusion Models, which caught everyone’s attention. With fashion technology as their primary language, students also designed “Mimesis” or simply “the reflector dress” as a conversation starter about self-reflection among their peers and developed a digital version of it using Snapchat. Students and teachers from the School of Design showed their unique projects such as ‘Jal Sathi’, ARTEMIS 389 Patient Transfer Equipment and multi-purpose space exploration vehicle. The students of School of Contemporary Media provided an exemplary exhibition of fiction films, fashion films, documentaries and augmented reality-based projects.
Pearl Academy D-School of Business, true to its ethos of digital and disruption, created Augmented Reality Markers to showcase the comprehensive student research at the click of a button. The markers were created using multiple QR codes read by proprietary AR software. The reader had to point the digital screen at the AR marker and pop-ups of the chosen variable became live on the screen.”
Industry experts from Whirlpool, Havells, IBM attended Portfolio 2022 and congratulated Pearl Academy students on their achievements. More than 2000 fashion and design candidates from 40 schools of Delhi-NCR also attended Portfolio 2022 and returned inspired.
