New Twizted Sisters wine and paint shop

A new business will open in Ripley next spring. It becomes a paint and wine business. You can have a party, drink a glass of wine and take a photo with your friends and family.

Shellee Jones, one of the owners, described the company.

“Many moons ago, me and one of my many sisters figured we are The Twizted Sizters,” Jones said. “I am excited to include her in my business with this. She is one of my best friends. We’ve always dreamed of working together, so there’s no one else I’d want to help. That’s why I wanted to include it in the name. The purpose of a wine and paint bottle is to provide you with the necessary painting supplies to create your artwork with an instructed teacher leading the way. And all this while enjoying a delicious glass of wine in a nice atmosphere. My goal is to host private parties including birthdays, bachelorette parties, corporates and fundraisers. We will be doing girls nights, couples date nights, coffee and canvas, parent and kid nights, kids nights and more. Must be 21 of course to drink what we are required to check. I would like to add some tasty wines made locally in our studio. So that will be one of the many things I will be working on in the coming months.”

“I moved to Ripley in November 2014, eight years ago. We had actually already bought a house, not in Ripley, but we took a ride on the Harley through St. Rt. 52 ending in Ripley. I’d never been there, but I fell in love right away,” Jones said. “The houses and buildings had so much character, it was along the river with great views and beautiful sunsets. We then drove around town for a bit and found the house I now call home. It had so much character, including the houses next door. I wanted to make it. It had huge white pillars, a spiral staircase, high ceilings, it sat high on the hill in the city and looked out over the river, the city, and had a great view of Kentucky. The house had been empty for more than 14 years. The bones were good, but she needed a lot of love. More than I realized then. It was certainly a labor of love. Fortunately, my husband does all that work to make my little dream come true. I sold my other house without hesitation as I bought the house high on the hill in town and moved to Ripley instead. A decision I will never regret.”

The new business will be located at 6 Main St. In Ripley. It used to be known as the Ripley Gourmet Tortilla Factory Mexican Restaurant years ago. The Ripley Women’s Club, which does a lot for our community, has a thrift store right next door to Twizted Sisters. Across the street parallel is Snappers Saloon and it is just steps from Front St. and the Ohio River. Ripley has received a grant to erect a new 300-foot two-story concrete dock and landing project at their Freedom Park location on Front St. The site is also in the New DORA district. So at the heart of it all, it’s exciting for the new owners.

“I thought long and hard about having my own business, a business that would be successful, but also one that I would love to do that would benefit everyone,” Jones said. “I wanted to bring something to our city that would be different and that would give everyone of all ages something fun to do. I’ve had a lot of positive feedback from the people in Ripley about my idea, which only confirms the dream I have for it. Personally, I love attending wine and painting classes and thought, why not? It’s refreshing, fun and a good time and I thought others would enjoy something like that too, while incorporating some of my own ideas into it.”

“We will be remodeling and renovating our location this fall and winter, getting ready and excited for our grand opening in the spring of 2023,” said Jones. “I plan to hold a grand opening for children and adults of all ages. Includes ribbon cutting, food, drinks, open tours, an art contest for the kids, face painting, raffles, door prizes and more!! I’ve always had a love for art. In college I took many art classes. I am looking for 2-3 artists to hire and add to my team. If anyone is interested please email me at [email protected] com for more information.”

“We are on Facebook where we will post details and updates as they come in. If you’d like to follow the progress, we’re listed as Twizted Sizters Wine & Paint on Facebook,” she added.
