A Monroe County Sheriff’s detective who died of a K-9 earlier this month. has resigned from the army The sheriff’s office announced Tuesday.
Detective Alex Mas was taken off duty while officials investigated Kolt’s death on May 15, five days after suffering a heat stroke. Kolt was initially taken to the Sparta Small Animal Veterinary Clinic before being transferred. at Madison’s VCA Animal Hospital, where he died.
Kolt sustained a heat injury on May 10, and despite multiple treatments, he was still recovering. But was unable to recover and died on Monday. the official said
Czech Shepherd, 6, has been with the sheriff’s office since November 2018.
A statement from the sheriff’s office did not specify when Maas left the department.
An investigation into the dog’s death is ongoing.
