Malouf appoints Sharon Gjertsen as director of furniture merchandising

Malouf™ has announced Sharon Gjertsen as its new Director of Furniture Merchandising. An integral part of the Malouf product development team, Gjertsen will continue to expand and develop the company’s Salt Flat furniture line (a company Malouf acquired in 2020) as well as furniture for Malouf Home and Weekender.

“Malouf is a very respected company in the industry. They have great products, great people and an even greater cause,” said Gjertsen. “I’ve seen them become the industry leaders they are today and I’m excited to join the team and further strengthen the furniture categories.”

In his new role, Gjertsen will oversee strategy planning and execution, product design and development, sourcing and logistics across all Salt Flat categories – living room, dining room, outdoor and occasional – and select pieces for Malouf Home and Weekender. Gjertsen shared, “I am very impressed with Malouf’s product line, especially Salt Flat. It’s focused on style and on trend, and we want to keep it that way while finding ways to elevate members.”

Gjertsen has dedicated his entire career to the furniture industry. During that time, she held various buyer and vice president roles for industry powerhouses such as Art Van and Kane Furniture. Most recently, she served as Vice President of Merchandising at Star Furniture, where she led product strategy, development and pricing to drive sales.

“Sharon has a wealth of merchandising experience and we are thrilled to have her as part of the Malouf team,” said Malouf Home President Eric Holmstead. “Her insight and her guidance in the furniture category will be critical as we continue our shift from a sleep accessories supplier to a complete home and wellness furniture company.”
