IKEA launches fall-winter 2022 homeware collection

Finding essential pieces to help transition into our home throughout the seasons is key—and we all want to do it without breaking the bank.

Whether it’s adding some soft furnishings to our living room or adding an accent piece of lamps to the shelves to give our space some sparkle, finding ways to give our home a little boost is always on the agenda, especially with the cooler temperatures set and many of us will likely spend More time at home.

Fortunately, Ikea has launched a new fall/winter collection to add variety to our homes in a stylish and simple way, taking inspiration from the following major trends.

natural neutral

The Ikea Life at Home 2021 Global Report reveals that more than a quarter (27%) of adults worldwide feel that having a clutter-free home is more important to them now than it was a year ago.

As a result, more people are adopting a simple aesthetic and are considering earthy and neutral tones to help create a sense of calm.

“Our homes are a place to relax and de-stress, and a neutral color scheme with natural accents helps create this desirable sanctuary,” said Clotilde Pasalaqua, director of interior design at Ikea UK and Ireland.

Passalacqua says one way to incorporate this into your home is to think about materials as well as color tones when designing each room.

“One of the biggest advantages of decorating your home with neutral pieces is their versatility,” she says. “Contrasting textures in the same shade work just as well as contrasting colors – from sage green and muted brown to rattan and bamboo, these earthy tones and organic materials will create an elegant environment while providing the calming effects of the outdoors.

Folklore fusion

This season, we’ll see more people embracing fun at home, with bold statement pieces that express their individual personalities – and that means it’s time to play around and experiment with a range of colours, designs and shapes to positively impact and boost your mood.

“Having spent more time in the same four walls after normalizing working from home, we’re seeing increased creativity in the way we decorate our spaces,” Pasalquah says.

“Inspired by memories of carefree days, we see collage colors and simple geometric patterns that take us back to decades prior favourite.”

She suggests “combining an eclectic mix of contrasting colors, such as deep red, great mustard, bold blue, and glorious green, while balancing them off whites and creams.”

“There is also a preference for incorporating color blocks in different shapes, from simple patterns and textiles to colorful wood furniture.”

nostalgic expression

In an ever-changing world, seeking intimacy wherever we can is something we embrace, from the food we eat and the clothes we wear to how we furnish our homes — and according to IKEA, this desire to add a sense of nostalgia to our homes turns on the sunrise.

One way to achieve the look of a nostalgic expression is to introduce floral and mixed patterns into your space, helping to create a relaxing and inviting environment.

Passalacqua suggests that experimenting with classic shades, colors, and patterns also helps to “capture a timeless feel,” while rich greens, soft grays, and blues make up the main color palette, and voluminous fabrics help embody warmth.

“Complement simple patterns with bold textures that create a sense of comfort while making a statement.”
