Here’s Why You Should Consider Buying The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe 30th Anniversary Edition

The Grand Cherokee is an SUV that has made the American brand proud after winning many awards over the years. To celebrate 30 years of its existence, all terrain has introduced the 30th anniversary edition of the Grand Cherokee 4xe.

Jeep’s Grand Cherokee, since its inception in 1992, has lived up to the expectations of many American buyers; it was easily one of the best premium SUVs around, and in its latest generation, it continues to be. Jeep claims it has sold more than 7 million Grand Cherokees worldwide, and the electrified plug-in hybrid 4xe model takes things up a notch for a rapidly evolving market.

With the new anniversary edition, Jeep wants to show that the Cherokee is not going off the market anytime soon; in fact, the goal is to be among the leaders of fully electric and hybrid SUVs.

The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Looks ‘Great’

The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe 30th Anniversary Special Edition doesn’t look too different from the regular Cherokee 4xe, but a few highlights make it stand out subtly. There are blacked-out front-end elements, dual exhausts, special-edition badging, 20-inch black wheels, and a dual-pane sunroof.

Cherokee 4xe sports a bold look with sculpted surfaces; it’s unmistakably premium to look at and is by far the best looking on the market. The roof appears more tapered, and that’s a plus for the SUV’s overall aerodynamics, and it doesn’t come at the cost of cargo space and utility.

The large windows and strong beltline below give the impression of a grand greenhouse experience inside. The seven-slot grille is the widest yet, and hidden behind the front fascia is long-range radar and a few other advanced features.

The long hood sits high, high enough to intimidate crossovers. It also gives the Jeep a raised stance, which is what Americans love, isn’t it? It seems that the Jeep is built to transport industrial bigwigs to their headquarters. Then there are active grille shutters, air curtains, a lower roofline, and vertical pillar spoilers at the rear.

The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is luxurious and technological

The Cherokee 4xe Special Edition features black Capri leather seats, a 9-speaker Alpine audio system, Uconnect 5 with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation and more. Some standard features include rain-sensing windshield wipers, intersection collision assist, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system.

They are filled with top-notch materials inside. The front panel features slim HVAC vents, a center console that has been realigned for driver access, 10.1-inch digital displays, and a 10.25-inch front passenger interactive display. There’s also a rear-passenger entertainment system with built-in FireTV. The 16-way adjustable front seats have power lumbar support and memory, and seat-back massage is offered for front passengers.

In addition to heated/ventilated seats, you also get three-level configurable controls for the first two rows. The SUV gets a full suite of customizable LED lighting with day/night settings, and there’s also ambient lighting with a choice of five colors.

Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Hybrid Powertrain is why you should consider it

The driver can adjust the hybrid powertrain to suit the use, be it the daily office commute in pure electric mode or road trips involving motorways. The Jeep Anniversary Edition does everything an SUV can do, all almost silently. The 4xe powertrain is a combination of two electric motors, a 400-volt battery pack and a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces a combined 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque.

Attached to the engine is an 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic gearbox that ensures the best possible fuel efficiency. The 4xe Anniversary Edition manages an all-electric range of 25 miles, which isn’t bad for a hybrid. The engine is based on the Stellantis Group family of global midsize engines. Thanks to the electric power steering and the electrically driven air conditioning system, the engine is not loaded.

Don’t confuse the 4-cylinder engine with being small, because the 4xe is fast and can hit 60 mph in about 6 seconds, and that makes it quicker than the model with the HEMI V8. It just moves on; just don’t expect it to take off like a Ford F-150 Lightning. Turning the drive mode selector to E-Save reduces excessive noise heard along with the engine.

Put it in electric mode and the Jeep will run on battery power alone, but only up to a point. Press the throttle further and the petrol engine kicks into gear, much like the BMW i8 sports car from back then. But the transition could have been smoother. The Jeep is said to feel composed, for the most part, thanks to the air suspension, and the steering isn’t too bad either.
