Best Furniture Store – Orange County Register

1. Living Spaces

Last spring, Living Spaces released its third designer collection. Drew + Jonathan hails from the twin brothers behind the HGTV series “Property Brothers” and quickly became a hit for the home improvement store.

“It’s a very beautiful, contemporary and modern aesthetic,” says product manager Cynthia Diaz. With its sleek dressers and accent chairs that subtly recall mid-century design, the brothers’ inaugural collection offers a distinct look and feel to the classic Nate + Jeremiah style and modern farmhouse vibes of Magnolia Homes.

This is important in Living Spaces, where shoppers look for both aesthetics and furniture in stores and online. Post-pandemic, says Diaz, shoppers are now using the Living Spaces website as a research tool before entering the store, where a large portion of the store’s sales take place.

“Each customer is really educating themselves online first,” says Diaz. After the boom in home renovations during 2020 and 2021, the store has returned to its usual bestsellers, upholstery and rooms, with a few changes.

The store’s custom upholstery program is incredibly popular with customers, as are the customizable sofas. Fortunately, Living Spaces was able to keep a four to six week window for delivery time, where supply chain issues caused longer waits with other retailers. At the moment, the most popular sofas are those with soft seats.

“Comfort was something so important during the pandemic that it stayed,” says Diaz. “Even though they’re adventuring now, they want to go back and have something that’s really comfortable.”

Meanwhile, cafeteria department buyers are eyeing tables with extensions that will allow them to seat eight to 12 people. “People are now ready to have large groups in their homes and have fun,” says Diaz, and they’re turning to Living Spaces to do that.
